Schön, dass du meine Seite gefunden hast. Ich hoffe ich konnte dich einige Zeit halten und du konntest meine Fotos genießen?! Solltest du dich fragen wer hinter den Bildern steckt, dann wirst du hier fündig.

Der Name der Seite sagt es eigentlich schon – aber hier noch einmal im Klartext. Mein Name ist Christian Wenglorz. Ich bin gebürtiger Potsdamer und tief mit meiner Stadt sowie der näheren Umgebung verbunden. Dies und die Tatsache, dass ich farbkräftige Motive bevorzuge, wirst du beim Betrachten der Fotos sicherlich schon bemerkt haben.

Ich habe die Fotografie relativ spät für mich entdeckt und meine erste Kamera, eine Canon EOS 50D, wurde auch erst im Jahr 2016 durch meine aktuelle Kamera, eine Canon EOS 6D abgelöst. Letztere hat mittlerweile leider den Dienst quittiert und wurde durch die Canon EOS R5 ersetzt. Für Interessierte gibt es hier eine Liste mit meiner derzeitigen Ausrüstung.

Beruflich bin ich als Grafiker in Berlin tätig und pendle täglich zwischen der einen und der anderen Hauptstadt. Die Fotografie stellt für mich einen idealen Ausgleich zum beruflichen Alltag dar. In erster Linie fotografiere ich immer für mich selbst. Es fällt sicherlich schnell auf, dass ich vorwiegend im Sonnenauf- oder -untergang fotografiere.

Dies liegt nicht daran, dass ich mich tagsüber nicht raus traue, sondern viel mehr an meinem Beruf. Viele Fotos sind entweder direkt vor oder nach der Arbeit entstanden und ich habe Gefallen daran gefunden. Da ich mich selbst als Frühaufsteher sehe – 5:30 Uhr ist eigentlich die Regel – genieße ich vor allem die menschenleeren Plätze und Parks zu dieser Zeit.

Meine tiefe Verbundenheit zu Potsdam liegt unter anderem darin begründet, dass ich hier aufgewachsen bin und geschichtlich gesehen beide Seiten kenne, vor und nach dem Fall der Mauer. Ich kann mich gut daran erinnern, dass wir als Kinder in einem Babelsberger Park gespielt haben mit aktiven Grenzanlagen der ehemaligen DDR. Genauso gut kenne ich auch noch eine gesperrte Glienicker Brücke und vor allem den damaligen Zustand der Parks, Schlösser und anderer historischer Gebäude in Potsdam. Was sich seit damals unter anderem durch die Arbeit der Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) und auch der unzähligen privaten Spender und Investoren in der Stadt getan hat, ist einfach bemerkenswert.

Durch beständige Restaurierungen und Wiederherstellungen innerhalb und um Potsdam herum findet man immer wieder aufs Neue interessante Ansichten, Aussichten und Sichtachsen.

Dies macht es für mich so interessant immer wieder loszuziehen und einfach zu fotografieren.

The name of the page gives it away already - but here again in plain language. My name is Christian Wenglorz. I was born in Potsdam, and I am deeply connected to my city and the surrounding area. You will have noticed this and the fact that I prefer colorful motifs when looking at the photos.

I discovered photography relatively late for me and my first camera, a Canon EOS 50D, was only replaced in 2016 by my current camera, a Canon EOS 6D. The latter has now unfortunately quit the service and was replaced by the Canon EOS R5. For those interested, here is a list of my current equipment.

Professionally, I work as a graphic designer in Berlin and commute daily between one capital and the other. Photography is for me an ideal balance to the professional everyday work. First and foremost, I always take pictures for myself. It is certainly noticeable quite quickly that I mainly photograph at sunrise or sunset.

This is not because I don’t dare to go out during the day, but rather because of my job. Many photos were taken either directly before or after work and I have taken a liking to it. Since I consider myself an early bird – 5:30 AM is the time I usually get up – I especially enjoy the deserted squares and parks at this time.

One of the reasons why I have a deep connection to Potsdam is that I grew up here and know both sides historically, before and after the fall of the Wall. I can remember well that as children we played in a Babelsberg park with active border installations of the former GDR. I also remember just as well a closed Glienicke Bridge and, above all, the condition of the parks, palaces and other historic buildings in Potsdam at that time. What has happened in the city since then, thanks in part to the work of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) and the countless private donors and investors, is simply remarkable.

Through constant restorations and reconstructions within and around Potsdam, one always finds new and interesting views, vistas and sightlines.

This is what makes it so interesting for me to go out again and again and just take pictures.
